Job Title: Computer Science Co-op Company: Waterworth Job Category: Machine Learning Roles & Responsibilities: Muniworth is an innovative SaaS startup dedicated to municipal financial forecasting, empowering local governments to optimize budgeting and strategic financial planning. We are currently building a machine learning (ML) and AI team to develop internal tooling, enhance our web applications, and create customized solutions for our municipal clients. If you're passionate about leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP), ML, and AI to drive impactful real\-world solutions, Muniworth offers a perfect learning environment. You're a curious, motivated Computer Science student with exposure to NLP, ML, and AI concepts. You value writing robust, type\-safe code, and you're interested in modelling real\-world domains precisely. Confident yet eager to learn, you're excited to take on responsibilities and grow alongside experienced developers. * Support the design, build, and deployment of data processing pipelines and infrastructure by leveraging NLP, ML, LLMs and AI. * Write type\-safe, maintainable code following software engineering best practices \- while this is a co\-op role, you should be motivated to create readable, well\-structured solutions that support collaborative development. * Work closely with our Lead Engineer and ML/AI team on projects leveraging classical ML techniques as well as NLP, LLMs, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG). * Assist in optimizing model performance and scalability, building hands\-on experience with AI frameworks, model optimization, and cloud computing platforms. * Contribute to customized AI\-driven solutions for municipal clients, gaining insight into how advanced analytics and stakeholder requirements influence product direction and development strategy. * Take on specific AI\-focused projects with mentorship and guidance, gaining experience across development, maintenance, performance monitoring, and exploration of new AI approaches and techniques. * Flexible work schedule (40 hours/week). * Dedicated 1\-on\-1 mentorship and substantial professional development opportunities. * Integrated and supportive team culture emphasizing learning, collaboration, and innovation. * Modern, vibrant office centrally located in downtown Victoria, BC—100% in\-person role. * Frequent social events and team\-building activities (optional). * Opportunity to directly impact the success of local governments and communities through meaningful projects.
