You will be the analytics and semantic layer expert for VCG — someone who investigates business problems first, then builds the governed data infrastructure that makes those answers repeatable and scalable. You will translate complex consumer business questions into insights, and then into reliable, reusable LookML models that power both self\-service dashboards and natural\-language query interfaces. As the team expands into intelligent, automated analytics workflows, you will help shape how those workflows are grounded in accurate, governed data. You are expected to form hypotheses, conduct analysis, interpret results, and communicate findings — and then productize those findings into governed, scalable data models. Responsibilities Include * Analytics \& Insight Generation: Independently investigate business questions using SQL, statistical methods, and exploratory data analysis. Form hypotheses, validate them against data, and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations for business stakeholders. * Semantic Layer Development: Build, govern, and optimize enterprise\-grade LookML models — translating validated business KPIs and analytical findings into governed, reusable Explores, derived tables, and metrics that serve as the single source of truth for dashboards and AI\-assisted query interfaces. * Conversational Analytics: Design and deliver natural\-language query experiences grounded in the LookML semantic layer, enabling business users to ask questions in plain language and receive accurate, metric\-consistent answers. Ensure the semantic layer functions reliably as the data backbone for Looker's conversational analytics capabilities and AI\-assisted query tools. * SQL \& Data Modeling: Author high\-performance SQL for complex, large\-scale consumer datasets in BigQuery. Build and maintain scalable data models that support both exploratory analysis and production reporting. Implement data validation procedures to ensure model accuracy and reliability. * Visualization \& Reporting: Create interactive dashboards and visualizations in Looker that translate your own analytical outputs into actionable business insight — not transcribe requirements handed to you. Monitor deployed models and dashboards, identifying and resolving issues proactively. * Agentic Workflow Contribution: Contribute to the design of automated analytical pipelines where data models and semantic definitions are consumed programmatically by LLM agents. Understand how governed semantic layers enable reliable, auditable AI\-generated insights and participate in building that infrastructure. * Stakeholder Collaboration: Meet with business stakeholders to frame analytical questions, not just gather reporting requirements. Translate consumer behavior, churn, and revenue questions into scalable analytical products. Communicate technical findings effectively to non\-technical audiences. What We’re Looking For... You are an analyst at your core who has developed strong data engineering instincts. You start with a question, dig into the data to answer it, and then build infrastructure that makes that answer reproducible at scale. You'll Need To Have * Bachelor's degree and four or more years of relevant work experience. * Six or more years of experience in an analytics role. Analytics Engineering or Applied AI roles with demonstrated analytical ownership are also relevant. * Demonstrated ability to independently investigate and answer complex business questions using SQL, statistical reasoning, and structured analysis. * Deep expertise in LookML development (Explores, derived tables, liquid parameters) and structuring validated business logic into standardized semantic layers. * Experience building and delivering conversational or natural\-language analytics interfaces. * Hands\-on experience with BigQuery and high\-performance SQL for large\-scale consumer datasets. * Exposure to AI/LLM tooling — including prompt engineering, function calling, and connecting language models to structured data sources. * Experience building interactive visualizations and self\-service dashboards in Looker or similar BI platforms, where the content reflects your own analytical judgment.
