Job Title: SAP Development and Integration Manager at QE Services Company: QE Services IT Recruitment Job Category: SAP ABAP Roles & Responsibilities: My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a SAP Development and Integration Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. Responsibilities * Lead and manage the SAP Development and Integration team. * Set individual and team objectives aligned with IT strategy and SAP Centre of Excellence (CoE) goals. * Conduct performance reviews, coaching, development discussions and succession planning. * Promote accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. * Support employee engagement, wellbeing, retention and technical skills development. * Lead SAP development, integration, extension and automation across the hybrid SAP landscape. * Oversee development and integration activities across SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC HCM, SuccessFactors, SAP BTP and related platforms. * Guide technical decisions between standard SAP configuration, released APIs, side\-by\-side extensions and approved integration patterns. * Drive the modernisation of custom code, integrations and extensions in line with clean\-core principles. * Promote the use of SAP Integration Suite, API\-led integration and event\-driven architecture. * Ensure secure and reliable connectivity between cloud\-based and on\-premise SAP systems. * Provide technical guidance on ABAP, RAP, CDS Views, OData, Fiori, workflow and SAP BTP technologies. * Assess opportunities for process automation and AI\-assisted development where appropriate. * Personally undertake selected development and integration tasks when required. * Receive, assess, prioritise and allocate JIRA requests across business\-as\-usual (BAU), project delivery, integration and technical debt. * Manage resource allocation and capacity across support, development, integration and modernisation initiatives. * Coordinate stakeholder meetings to review priorities, progress, capacity and escalations. * Ensure projects and technical requests are delivered within agreed deadlines and quality standards. * Monitor technical issues and resolve defects across SAP applications, integrations, workflows and connectivity layers. * Establish and maintain SAP development standards and technical best practices. * Enforce release, incident, change management, audit and security procedures. * Ensure compliance with SAP CoE and BTP governance requirements. * Apply clean\-core principles, secure\-by\-design integration and approved architectural patterns. * Support DevSecOps practices, controlled deployments and release management. * Maintain accurate technical documentation, knowledge transfer and operational handover. * Advise functional teams and business stakeholders on SAP solution options and technical feasibility. * Challenge requirements where necessary to ensure solutions are practical, sustainable and fit for purpose. * Identify opportunities to improve system performance, integration reliability and development efficiency. * Mentor internal resources and strengthen the team's technical capabilities. * Promote continuous learning across SAP cloud technologies, integration, security and AI\-enabled development. * Strong SAP development and integration expertise. * Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP and hybrid SAP environments. * Knowledge of ABAP, ABAP OO, RAP, CDS Views, OData and SAP Fiori. * Understanding of SAP Integration Suite, API Management and secure integration patterns. * Knowledge of clean\-core architecture, cloud extensibility and custom\-code modernisation. * Understanding of SAP governance, security, DevSecOps and release management. * Awareness of AI\-assisted development and SAP Business AI capabilities. * Strong team leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities. * Effective workload planning, resource allocation and prioritisation. * Ability to manage performance and build technical capability. * Strong decision\-making and problem\-solving skills. * Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non\-technical stakeholders. * Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and relationship\-building skills. * Ability to challenge requirements constructively and recommend suitable solutions. * Strong service ownership and client\-focused approach. * Highly responsible, self\-motivated and able to work independently. * Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. * Excellent time management and organisational skills. * Adaptable, proactive and committed to continuous learning. * Quality\-driven, with a strong focus on documentation and operational handover. * Security\-conscious and governance\-aware. * Collaborative team player with a coaching mindset. * Comfortable working in a regulated, deadline\-driven enterprise environment. Qualifications \& Experience * Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. * Relevant SAP certifications in SAP BTP, Integration Suite, ABAP Development, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Build or SAP Business AI will be advantageous. * Minimum of 7 years' experience in SAP development and integration, including ABAP and modern SAP integration technologies. * Minimum of 3 years' experience working with SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP, preferably within a hybrid SAP or RISE with SAP environment. * Practical experience with SAP Integration Suite / CPI\-S, API Management, OData, REST, SOAP, IDocs, BAPIs and RFC integration. * Experience with SAP BTP, Cloud Connector, secure hybrid connectivity and integration architecture. * Experience with ABAP OO, RAP, CDS Views, SAP Fiori, UI5 and modern SAP extension techniques. * Experience leading technical teams, managing workloads, prioritising backlogs and coordinating project delivery. * Experience in release management, change governance, technical standards, stakeholder engagement and operational support. * Experience with clean\-core principles, custom\-code modernisation, cloud migration and side\-by\-side extensions will be advantageous. * Experience with SAP Cloud ALM, DevSecOps, source control, CI/CD and controlled transport management will be advantageous. * Experience in financial services or another regulated enterprise environment will be advantageous. * Exposure to AI\-assisted development, Joule for Developers and SAP Business AI will be beneficial.
