Role: SAP ABAP Architect - Chennai Onsite. Location: Chennai, India. Job Type: FT. Shift: 2 to 11 pm IST. Years of experience: 10+ years. 5 days WFO-Chennai location. Purpose of Job: The SAP ABAP Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for defining, governing, and delivering SAP technical architecture across Buckman's SAP landscape. This role serves as a trusted advisor and architecture partner to both business and IT stakeholders, translating business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and high-performing SAP solutions. The Architect will provide technical leadership across SAP development, integration, performance optimization, modernization initiatives, and architecture governance while mentoring development teams and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices. This position requires deep expertise in SAP ABAP development, SAP business processes, SAP architecture frameworks, and technical solution design across complex enterprise environments. Responsibilities:. SAP ABAP Architecture. Serve as the SAP ABAP Architect and provide technical direction across SAP initiatives. Design technical solutions and guide development teams on architecture decisions. Bring broad SAP technical experience across multiple areas rather than a narrow ABAP specialization. SAP Business Process Expertise. Demonstrate strong understanding of SAP business processes and their technical implementation. Work closely with functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Provide technical guidance that aligns with business process needs. Technical Leadership & Mentoring. Mentor and guide ABAP developers within the organization. Review technical approaches and help resolve complex SAP technical challenges. Act as a technical reference point for development teams. Hands-on ABAP Expertise. Provide deep expertise in SAP ABAP development and architecture. Support technical design, code reviews, and development best practices. Bring experience across SAP technical areas with the ability to evaluate and guide development work. Qualifications & Experience:. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 12+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on ABAP development and technical architecture. Proven experience serving as a Technical Lead or SAP ABAP Architect. Strong understanding of end-to-end SAP business processes. Experience designing enterprise-scale SAP solutions. Hands-on expertise in SAP technical design, development governance, and architecture reviews. Experience working with global stakeholders and distributed delivery teams. Must Have Technical Skills:. Advanced ABAP Development. Object-Oriented ABAP. ABAP on HANA. SAP Integration Architecture. SAP Solution Design. Technical Mentoring & Leadership. Preferred Technical Skills:.
